Also we motivate our students and fighters to train functional training and weight training to improve their strength for better performance.

The following are the martial arts which are commonly used in MMA:

Kickboxing is a full contact striking sport. It is a broad term, like MMA which involves all unarmed combat arts, kickboxing involves all stand up combat sports like Boxing, Taekwondo, Karate, Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Sanda etc. Kickboxing fights take place under various rules and under various organizations like K1 rules, full contact kickboxing rules, Muay Thai and organizations like WAKO, ISKA, WKA etc.

Karate is a martial art developed in Okinawa, Japan. It is a martial art which uses punches, kicks, knees, elbows and open handed techniques like knife hand, spear hands and strikes from the heel of the palm. The various styles of karate include Shito-Ryu , Shotokan, Kyokushin etc. Karate was derided as ineffective during the earlier stages of MMA but has since made a comeback with the success of many fighters.

Muay Thai is a combat sport from Thailand. It is known as ‘the art of eight limbs’ due to the fact that it uses fists, elbows, knees and shins. Most MMA fighters have Muay Thai as their striking base it translates directly to MMA with the use of elbows and knees as well as the clinching techniques.

Boxing is a sport which involves throwing punches with gloved hands. Boxing is one of the most popular sport in the world and also in MMA there are many fighters who use boxing as their preferred method of striking.

Wrestling is the most important aspect of MMA as it involves the transitional phase between striking and submissions i.e. takedowns. A good wrestler can dictate whether the fight stays on the feet or goes to the ground. Without good takedown defense an elite striker will be helpless in the cage and thus will not be able to use his striking.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or BJJ specializes in the ground game and submissions. It involves various joint locks, chokes and cranks. Alongside wrestling, knowledge of submissions and submission defense is of the utmost importance in MMA.
